Our Story

Concept and Choreography by David Morse

Both intimate and cinematic ‘Our Story’ looks at the unique singularity of history’s darkest chapter - the Holocaust - and asks profound questions about what is required of each of us to fully appreciate our shared humanity. Called "masterful" (Sarah Weiss, CEO - Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center), ‘Our Story’ weaves together heart wrenching images of families in upheaval, mass deportations, brutality, and the terror carried out by the Nazi regime in WWII. Through moments of raw vulnerability and loss, the work ultimately comes to reveal deep truths about the resilience of the human spirit.

This complex and emotional work takes the audience on a turbulent and moving journey back to a time and place which are neither long ago, nor far away.

A note from the Choreographer

This work is dedicated to all the victims who suffered at the hands of Nazi brutality. No words are precise or powerful enough to describe the unimaginable times they lived through - loss of life, families ripped apart, displacement, human misery, but also extraordinary bravery, kindness, and heroism showed by so many in the face of the ultimate tribulation. ‘Our Story’ is a living memorial; both a look back into the wretched maw of evil and a call to action that we might each root out a bit of hate within ourselves and more deeply appreciate the humanity of our neighbors.
